子どもたちが保育所に通い出したのは、前年の8月後半からのこと。まだ1年足らずですが、以前から仲の良い友人家庭の利用者も少なくなく、ずいぶん長くお世話になっている気がします。
この日は保育所の夏祭り。僕たちは初めての参加ですが、これでようやく年中行事は全部経験したことになります。駄菓子屋、かき氷、輪投げ、ヨーヨーすくい、たこ焼き屋、夜祭りさながらで、これは、手づくりのお金チケットを使って、お買いものごっこも兼ねているようです。 保護者会主催のイベントですが、ひと部屋まるごと使った迷路は、保育所職員の皆さんの手作り。この熱心さには、いつも頭が下がります。近所の小学生や未就園児も参加することができ、すでに卒園している（う）も気兼ねなく居ることができて、助かります。 折しもこの日は、（ま）が生まれてから2年を記念する誕生日。この季節の、まだ明るいうちの我が家の夕食時に、ささやかなお祝い。 （ま）の誕生日を楽しみにしていたのは、本人よりもむしろ（う）の方で、午前中の夏祭りでくたくたですが、プレゼントからお祝いの段取りまで頑張り、肺活量の足りない（ま）に替わってロウソクを吹き消すサービス付き。要領を得ない（ま）もにっこり。  とても暑い日で、夏祭りがはじまると、服を脱いでしまった（ま）。 なんだ、その珍妙な顔は！？ 愉快な我が家の三匹の子ぶたたちは、今年も元気です。 （ゆ） Summer Festival Our kids have started going to pre-school from late Aug. It has been less than a year, but we feel very familiar to the pre-school maybe thanks to other families who have been good family friends of us from before. Summer festival was held at the pre-school on this day. It was the first event for us because we joined just after this event last year. Various booths were set up with snacks, shaved ice, games, water balloon catcher, octopus dumpling and so on. They were really well organized, and kids enjoyed buying with handmade currencies. (it was meant for kids to experience using their own money in this way.) This event was organized by the parents committee, but teachers made such a big effort as well! They used one whole classroom to make a huge maze which impressed me a lot. Anyone could come to this little festival including neighborhood elementary school kids and small babies, so Umeo, who had already graduated from this school, seemed to enjoy a lot too. It happened to coincide with Makasa's second birthday. We had a small birthday dinner early in the evening. Umeo was the one who was most excited to celebrate Makasa's birthday. Though being exhausted herself with the summer festival in the morning, she made a big effort preparing a gift and a dinner plan. She even helped Makasa blowing out candles on her birthday cake because Makasa's breathing capacity was not enough! Of course, little Makasa had a big smile.
