 Our trip to Kumomo, Kochi prefecture, had been postponed due to a huge typhoon, but we made it and had a wonderful weekend. Our family friend M-chan was born and grew up in Kumomo where her mother runs a guest house mainly for pilgrims. She happily took us all in her car. After three hours of driving at night, we got there. Kids were all asleep, but when they woke up in the morning, they all gave a scream of delight finding the sea just in front of the door!   After the breakfast, we went down for morning walk, but no one could stop Umeo and Sukla from going into the water with clothes on...! Knowing big driftwood could be their good floats to swim with, exploring a river connected to the sea, collecting various shapes of thin driftwood for decoration and playing swords, etc...we all spent such an exciting time there.  Well, that was just a morning walk (swim?)! Wearing a swimming suit, M-chan drove us to another famous beach. Yes, that WAS the great long shoaling beach where many surfers enjoys waves. We spent there for hours, and by the time when we came back to the guest house, we were all starving and exhausted.   Having a good nap in the sea breeze, eating ice cream together, and playing fireworks at night...the trip became the perfect finale of the summer. Thinking back, we were always together with M-chan family during this summer. We never imagine that we could become such close family friends, but yes,we are! We hope that we can take them to our relatives next time maybe in Okinawa, Niigata, or...India?! Let's see where our destiny takes us; be ready, M-chan! Wakana  久百々へ 高知県、久百々（くもも）への旅。台風の上陸で、二週間前に延期になってしまったものが、この週末に実現しました。 友人のＭちゃんは、久百々の出身。そこでお母さんが、民宿をされています。年間通して、今でも主にお遍路さんが宿泊するのだそうです。Ｍちゃんは、帰省に合わせて私たち一家も快く連れて行ってくれました。さぁ、Ｍちゃんちの大きな車に皆で乗って、夕飯食べてからの出発です。Ｍちゃんの旦那さまのＫ君が運転してくれること３時間、到着した頃には子どもたちは皆、夢の中。けれど翌朝起きて、窓の外に広がる海を見ればすぐ、歓喜の叫び声が止みません。   朝食をいただいて、朝の散歩にでもと浜辺に下りて行きました。が、服のまま海にずぶずぶ入っていく（う）と（す）を、誰も止めようもありません。大きな流木につかまって泳いだり、海につながっている川を見つけて探検したり、色々な形の流木を拾い集めてみたり、皆、思い思いに楽しい時間を過ごしました。   さぁ、これはまだ朝の散歩（泳ぎ？）にすぎません。水着に着替えると、今度は車に乗って、大きなビーチに連れて行ってもらいました。これこそ！長い、遠浅の砂浜。たくさんのサーファーが波に乗っています。何時間か過ごして昼食に戻ってきた時には、皆ぐったり、お腹はぺこぺこ。   潮風に吹かれながらお昼寝して、一緒におやつにアイスをいただいて、夜には花火して。なんとも素晴らしい夏のフィナーレです。思えば、この夏は、ずっとＭちゃん一家と一緒に遊んでいました。こんなに家族ぐるみで仲よくなれるとは思っていなかったけれど、素敵な縁です。今度は、我らの方の親戚のところに一緒に行くのも面白そう。沖縄か、新潟か、それとも・・・インド？さぁ、どうなることかはお楽しみ。Ｍちゃん一家よ、覚悟しといて！ （わ）
