Ma-chan is one of Umeo's best friends who lives in Massachusetts, US. Last Christmas, her mother, S-san, sent a small gift box to Umeo and Sukla, in which we found Ma-chan's lovely drawings and letter.
Umeo was really impressed, and made her own box for her in return. So, when they faced each other through Skype today, they thanked each other for the gifts. Observing those four-year-old girls is really interesting. As far as I and S-san are with them, in the each side of Skype screen, they are too shy to say anything. But once we adults leave, they suddenly start chatting like forever...! When I secretly observed what they were talking about, they seemed busy showing their favorite toys, clothes, and books to each other. Sometimes they laughed loudly, and then whispered something. M-chan still remembers Japanese, so their conversation was in Japanese. Suddenly, I heard Umeo saying something into the screen, really excited. I went to see what was going on, then found she was inviting M-chan to come over to this side of the screen. "M-chan! Come over here and let's play together! See, you try to come through this square computer. Um..is it too small? Okay, let me try first...oh, right, it's too small....!" Umeo was pushing her head against the computer screen trying to go through. I couldn't stop laughing hidden away from her. She was just so serious. Skype helped to connect them over the sea, but made them feel like really missing each other. Let us look forward to meeting to Ma-chan family next time. Wakana スクリーン越えて まーちゃんは（う）の大の仲良しのお友達で、アメリカはマサチューセッツに住んでいます。この間のクリスマスに、お母さんのSさんから（う）と（す）宛に小さなプレゼントの箱が届きました。中には、まーちゃんの描いた絵やかわいい手紙などが入っていました。 （う）はこれにいたく感激して、お礼の贈り物を一生懸命考えてお返しに送りました。なので、この日久しぶりにスカイプで対面した時には、まずお互いにプレゼントのお礼を言いました。 この二人の4歳の少女たちを観察していると、とても愉快です。画面を向かって話していても、私やSさんが隣にいると二人は恥ずかしがって全く話しません。が、ひとたび大人が席を外すと、突然ぺちゃくちゃとおしゃべりを始めるのです。しかも、これが終ることを知らない。こっそり隠れて覗いてみると、何やらお気に入りのおもちゃや、服や本などを見せあったりして忙しそうです。時には、大声で叫び合って笑い、また突然ひそひそ話になったりしています。まーちゃんはよく日本語を覚えているので、二人の会話は日本語でした。 しばらくして、突然（う）が何やら興奮して大声で言っているのが聞こえました。見てみると、どうやら画面の向こうのまーちゃんに、こっち側に来るよう呼びかけているようでした。 「まーちゃん！ちょっとこっちきて、いっしょにあそぼう！ほら、このしかくいコンピーターくぐってみ。あれれ、ちょっとちいさいか、まって、まずあたしやってみる。ああ、ほんとだ、ちいさいね・・・」 一所懸命、画面に頭を押し付けています。私は、隠れながら笑うのをこらえるのが大変でした。余りにも、真剣です。スカイプは、海を挟んで二人をつなげてくれるものですが、一方で会いたくなるスイッチを押してしまうものです。今はぐっとこらえて、また次回まーちゃん一家に会えるのを楽しみに待つことにするとしましょう。 （わ） |
