 The end of the year, we finally did a general cleaning! Every year, we somehow got engaged in house and/or garage repair even throughout the end of the year and new year days. However, we actually planned the time for house-cleaning for a few days this year because we knew that we had too many unnecessary things in the house. One reason why we have so many things is that, indeed, our neighbors tend to bring plates, kitchen utensils, furniture, toys etc. for us ..with all good intentions and we can't just reject them. The other reason is that I tend to keep them expecting they might be useful one day. So, after careful sorting, we decided to clear-out MANY of them. Besides that, we cleaned under and behind a big kitchen burner for the first time since we moved here, Kanaman-beya. It was good for me not only because the house got cleaned, but also I came to know what we really have with us. Well, maybe the same thing can be said about own ability and personality. What are my strength and weaknesses? Well, the end of the year could be the good timing to review many things. After a lot of work, we did end-of-year-party with J-chan family eating Okonomiyaki (Japanese pizza) and small cakes. Wish you and all us a happy new year! Wakana 大掃除 年の瀬に、ついに大掃除をすることが出来ました。 毎年、何だかなんだで家の改修やら倉庫の修理やらで、年末年始と忙しくしていた私たち。けれど、今年はそのようなこともなく、数日かけての大掃除が実現しました。うちには何だか要らないものが山ほど散らかっていることをひしひしと感じていましたから、なおさらです。なぜならば、一つにはご近所さんたちが、次々と色々な物をくれる癖があるということがあります。私たちにあげやすいからなのか、あげたいと思ってくれるからなのか、彼らもよかれと思って、自分のうちの倉庫整理や衣替えの後など、どっかりと様々なものをくれるのです。食器、台所器具、家具におもちゃ等々。もう一つには、私の貧乏性で、いつか役立つかもしれないと、ついつい貯めこんでしまいがち。 というわけで、厳正なスクリーニングを経て、どっかりと大量の処分を決めました。加えて、「かんまん部屋」への引越し以来動かしていなかった、大きなガス台を外に出しての大掃除。画期的でした。 家がすっきりしただけでなく、我が家に一体何があるのかがはっきり分かったことは、何よりの収穫です。これは自身についても言えるのかも。自分に何があって、何が足りていないかをいつも把握していることは大切ですよね。。年末は、そんなことを振り返るにはいい機会かもしれません。 大掃除でどっと疲れたその日の夜は、近所のJちゃん一家と一緒に忘年会ならぬ、紡年会（嫌なことも忘れないで、来年につなげて紡いでいこう～の会）です。お好み焼きと小さなケーキをつついてのんびり過ごしました。 皆さんにも、自分たちにも、幸ある新年となりますように！ （わ）
