Umeo already understands that Christmas is something exciting and special.
On 24th, when we woke up, it was totally white outside. Umeo jumped out from her bed and went outside, then she got very busy playing with snow. That's how our Christmas started. This year, many "Santa Claus"es came with presents for Umeo and Sukla actually. It started with H-san, who studies English with me once in a while, who came with a big chocolate cake. We don't eat chocolate so often, so they were amazed by the yummy taste. Sukla ate three pieces of cake (oops)! That evening, when we were having dinner, one of our neighbors, A-chan, suddenly came with big gift packings. They were full of cute stationery that kids love. Moreover, that night, Yon-chan, Umeo's best friend, called us and told us that she wanted to bring a present secretly so that Umeo could find it next morning, on 25th. So, in the dark, Yuki received the present outside and kept it secretly.
As Umeo did last year, she put a big baskets beside the window with one doll. She asked the doll to keep watching outside, and when Santa Claus came, the doll was supposed to tell her to leave the presents in the empty basket. This year, Sukla did the same. Next morning, as soon as she woke up, she ran to the basket and jumped here and there, full of joy!
She found a pink jacket, a picture book, stickers, colorful clay and another gift pack written "from auntie Santa Claus" (that was Yon-chan, of course!). Sukla got similar ones including animal stickers. He loves the lion especially, and calls it "big zoo", and also the beaver for some reasons. For the first few days, he was happy only watching the sheet full of various animals, but later, he put all of them on the toilet-paper holder.
On 25th, we had a Kintaro gathering, when Santa Claus in a red costume appeared and gave us orange pound cake!
I didn't expect THAT many people around us though Umeo and Sukla showed their happy feelings with lots of presents. Kids certainly received not only cute and sweet gifts, but also something warm. Thank you so much, dear Mr. and Mrs. "Santa Claus"es!

サンタがやってきた
クリスマスが何か楽しくて特別なものだと、もうすっかり知っている（う）。
24日に朝起きたら、外はすっかり雪で白く覆われていました。（う）は布団から飛び出し、外に飛び出し、それからしばらく雪と遊ぶのに忙しそうでした。こうして始まったクリスマス。今年は、なんと何人もの「サンタクロース」がやってきて、（う）と（す）にプレゼントをくれました。初めは、ちょくちょくうちに来ては英語を勉強しているHさん。その日は大きなチョコレートケーキを抱えてやってきたものだから、普段あまりチョコを食べない二人は狂喜乱舞。（す）は3切れもペロリと食べてしましました（おっと！）。その晩、夕飯を食べていたら、近所のお姉さんのAちゃんが、かわいい包装を持ってふいにやってきました。中には、これまたかわいらしい文房具がぎっしり。二人のツボに見事に入りました。さらに、（う）の親友のよんちゃんから電話があり、明日の朝見つけてびっくりさせるためのプレゼントを用意したから、外でこっそり受け取ってほしいとのこと。暗い中、（ゆ）が家の外で受け取って家の中に隠しました。
昨年もそうしたように、（う）は寝る前に窓際にザルを置いて、その横に人形を一つ置きました。人形には、「ずっと外を見ていて、サンタさんが来たらここにプレゼントを置いてもらうように」と言づけていそいそと眠りにつきました。今年は、（す）も同じようにしました。さて次の朝、目が覚めるや否や、寝ている中二階から飛び降りて来た（う）はプレゼントの山に大喜びです。あちこち走り回ってから、一つひとつうっとり眺めます。ピンクのジャケットに絵本、カラフル粘土に、特別な包み紙。それには「サンタのおばさんより」と書いてありました。（よんちゃんに間違いありません。）（す）も、自分のザルに同じようなものを見つけて嬉しそう。特に、動物シールに大興奮でした。とりわけ好きなライオン（スクラ語で「ビッグ・ズー」と言っていますが）とビーバーがを見つけて何か叫んでいます。最初の数日は、動物が色々並んだシールの台紙を眺めて満足していましたが、そのうちシールを全部、トイレのペーパーホルダーのカバーに並べて貼り付けてしまいました。
25日の昼間は、「金太郎」の集まりがあったので公民館へ。すると赤い服を着たサンタのオジサンが現れ、皆にみかんのパウンドケーキをくれました。
こんなにも盛りだくさんで、しかも多くの人たちが（う）と（す）のことを思いだして贈り物という形で親しみを示してくれたことに、正直びっくりしました。二人も、かわいらしいプレゼントが嬉しいのはもちろんのこと、何か温かいものを受け取ったに違いありません。あちらこちらのサンタさん、本当にどうもありがとうございました！
