 コルカタで過ごしていたときに知り合った友人の本が出来上がり、インドから送られてきました。掲載した表紙のタイトルは、ベンガル語で「RIMIL 36」と書いてあります。 中には36の、僕の大好きな美しいベンガル文字の綴りのエッセイと、それぞれに僕が描いた絵があります。頁をめくっていくと、僕のプロフィールもベンガル語で書かれていました。何書いてあるのか分かりません。僕を紹介する写真には、このかんまん部屋の縁側で撮った家族写真がそのまま使われていました。もう一頁めくると、いかにもインド人らしい写真の著者紹介があります。 手に取ってみると愉快で、なんだか笑が止まらなくなりました。この組み合わせのアンバランスさも、絵の色合いも気に入りました。 後は野となれ山となれ。友人から依頼があったのは一年近く前。最後は心も体もフラフラでしたが、僕の場合、ときどきはこうならないといけないなと、この仕事を振り返りました。 （ゆ） RIMIL 36 This book, whose author is one of our Kolkata friends, was finally published, and it reached us by post from India. The title is written in Bengali "RIMIL 36". In this book, you'll find 36 essays written in Bengali, my favorite beautiful letters, along with my drawings. As I flapped the pages, I found my profile in Bengali. Well, I don't know what is written about me though! For my profile photo, our family photo taken at our porch has been used. The following page has the author's photo, looking like an authentic Indian woman. Looking at the book in my hand, I couldn't stop laughing. I liked the unbalanced combination of photos as well as the color of my drawings. Let me see what readers feel about the book. After me the deluge! This project started almost one year ago. By the end, I was very exhausted both mentally and physically, but I think I should face such a situation once a while, to enhance myself. Yuki |
