2011,10,31, Monday Long, long fish! I had never seen how "Muraenesox cinereus" looked like untill I got 10 of them at a time one night. Our neighbor, Mrs. U, who is a wife of the boar hunter, is the one who gave them to us, . They got ten of the "Muraenesox cinereus" from a friend, and got tired of cleaning them. She called me and said "come over here with a big bucket!". I knew "Muraenesox cinereus" on a plate; they are usually cut into small pieces, white, soft, gentle in taste and quite expensive. However, I was a bit frightened when I saw their bodies as a whole. They were long, thick, and with sharp teeth! In this area, since we are very near to the sea, people throw fish bones to the sea after cleaning and eating. So when I went to their house with a bucket, there were so many heads and tails in the water in front of their house. Soon, ducks found these and enjoyed them. Well, with a normal size chopping board, knife, and sink, it WAS challenging to clean them, but I had to! After the kids fallen asleep, I made a bow to them and worked on. Next morning, I saw the ducks enjoying them, which entertained Umeo and Sukla. After few days, when another neighbor gave us "Trichiurus lepturus (Hair tail)", I had no hesitation anymore. They were thinner and with less bones. Once again, I gained a new experience at the midnight kitchen. We enjoyed eating them for many days in various ways. Wakana 長い、長い魚 　それまで、ハモという魚がどんな格好をしているのか知りませんでした。ある晩、一気に10匹も捌くことになるまでは。 　下さったのはご近所のUさん。だんなさんは例の猪ハンターです。友人の釣り名人からもらった大量のハモを、奥さんが捌いて捌いて、捌いたあげくに疲れ切って、もういけん、というところで私に電話をかけて「大きいバケツ持っといで！」と。 　お食事として出てきたハモの姿は知っていました。小さく切られていて、白くて柔らかくて、優しい味です。そしてたいそうな高級魚。けれど、この度初めて全身を見たので、ちょっと怖いくらいでした。長くて、太くて、するどい歯！ 　このあたりの集落は海と隣り合わせなので、人々は魚を捌いた後や食べた後の骨などを、直接海に捨てます。この日も、Uさんの家の前の水中にはたくさんのハモ頭や尻尾がぷかぷか。しばらくすると、カモたちがやってきて一生懸命食べていました。 　 　さて、我が家の普通サイズのまな板、包丁にシンクで彼らを捌くのは一大事。けれど、やるほかありません。子どもらが寝静まった後、ハモたちに一礼して気合を入れて取り掛かりました。翌朝、さっそくカモたちがうちの前でガアガアやっていたので、（う）も（す）も大喜びでした。 　何日かして、今度はお隣さんが太刀魚をたくさん下さった時、もう恐れるものはありませんでした！ハモに比べたらお姫様のよう。細くて、骨も少ないです。 真夜中の台所で、たまた一つ新たな経験が増えました。我が家では、色々と料理法を試しながら何日もこの長いお魚たちを楽しませて頂きました。 （わ） | なんち屋 | comments (0) | trackback (0) |
