先日、日本一うまいそばと、自作のどぶろくが届きました。送り主は、どちらも大学研究室の先輩で、気合があって、僕がとても好きな人たちです。
さっそくいただいています。うまい！ どうもありがとう！
手書きの手紙を広げながら、どうしてこの品を選んだのだろう、なんてことを考えたり、研究室や現場で過ごした濃密な時間を思い出したり、世話になったほかの素敵な先輩たちのことや同期、論文の面倒を見た後輩たちは何しているだろうかなんて思い巡らせて今の自分を見振り返ったりしていると、あっという間にほろ酔い。

Bring what I forgot to mind
The other day, I received two parcels: Japan's-best-tast-buckwheat noodle and a bottle of original Doburoku, unrefined sake, from different persons. They are both my favorite seniors who have great will power and used to belong to the same school at the masters and doctoral programms. I and Wakana have been really enjoying the noodle and Sake; thank you so much!
Reading their handwritten letters, I started ruminating about various things: Why did they select these to send me? I had such a rich time at grad school and fields; What are other seniors, who took a great care of me, doing?; What about friends about my age and juniors whom I helped their theses? etc...And what about myself? Have I grown compare to those days...? By the time I thought about myself, I was already slightly drunk.
