 This is our 6th Miso making project. As we do this every year, I wish we'd improved our "technique" ....well, anyway, 5 families got together here, very-cold-Kanmanbeya that day. The biggest change I realized was in our kids. When they were small, we always needed to keep our eyes on them while making Miso, but not now anymore! Most of them are old enough to play by themselves, go upstairs and toilets without our help, which helped us a lot to concentrate and enjoy Miso making (and chatting!). Miso making process itself was not so special for them anymore, so they were busy playing around by themselves.   For lunch, we made steamed meat bun with a three-tiered steam cooker. They were not bad! I remember that we had seen power snow, which blew into Kanmanbeya, on the very first year of Miso making, through the gap of the roof. We had laughed a lot looking at snow inside the house...how cold it was even inside, ha! J-chan, who is one of my best friends in Akehama and sensitive to the cold, often comes up with this episode with a great sarcasm, however she has joined Miso making every single year, great! And many thanks to S-chan for having ordered necessary ingredients every year. The idea of Miso making was born from a conversation with her, I think. On this day, we were all happy that M-chan came with her new born baby; thank you for having joined us every year, coming all the way from Honai-town! C-chan's photo shooting was also appreciated as we tend to forget...having all the happy times and conversation, Miso will be ready in half a year....! Wakana 味噌づくり２０１７ 今回で６回目となる味噌づくり。 年々、手際が良くなっているのかどうなのか。今年も、極寒の我が家に、コネコネしに大勢集まってきました。 毎年子どもたちが成長して放っておけるようになったことに一番の変化を感じます。なんといっても、勝手に遊んでいてくれるので気が楽なのです。おんぶや授乳が必要だったり、つかまり歩きで自由自在だけど目が離せない年齢・月齢だと、気を抜けなくて大変です。子どもたちにとっては、味噌捏ねが珍しくなくなってしまってそこらで遊び回っていますが、それもよし。これは大人が遊んでいるのだ！ 今年の昼食には、肉まんとピザまんも作ってみました。どーんとした蒸籠をよんちゃんからもらっていたので、皆と使ってみたかったのです。なかなか美味しかったですよね？ 味噌づくり初年度は、「かんまん部屋」の囲炉裏の上にある煙出しから粉雪が舞ってきて、皆で苦笑したのが懐かしいです。この地域での心の友でとっても寒がりのJちゃんは、今でもそのエピソードを持ち出してきますが、よく懲りずに毎年一緒に寒仕込みの味噌を捏ねてくれました。そしていつも麹や分量の手配をしてくれたSちゃんも、どうもありがとう。確か、この味噌づくりもSちゃんとの会話の中から生まれたんだよね。いつも遠方から遊びに来てくれるMちゃんも、捏ね終わりのタイミングにいつも悩むKちゃんも、カメラも担当してくれたCも、皆との思い出とおしゃべりの記憶を漬け込んだ味噌の仕上がりが、また楽しみだね。 （わ）
