The idea of this project popped up when I was talking to one of our neighbors, S-chan, a few month ago. Some more friends joined us, and then we finally scheduled this "miso (fermented soybean paste) making" for today.
S-chan and J-san were the only two who have some experience of miso making, and they planned and prepared almost everything to make this happen. All members came along with their kids, so the making process was so slam-bang! Thanks to them, we could complete all the planned processes just before noon, and then enjoyed potluck lunch party as usual.
It had been quite warm till yesterday, but suddenly it started snowing. It was such fun today, but the thing was that it's so cold in this house! We saw last year that powder snow flew into our house through a gap in the skylight, and that happened today, again! It may sound quite shocking to people that it's snowing 'inside' the house, but our miso-making energy melted that snow out. And yet, thanks to everyone for joining in this experiment, and now I am looking forward to taste our miso for several months!

初めての味噌作り
味噌作り計画は、何か月か前、ご近所さんのSちゃんとのひょっとした会話から始まりました。それから何人かの友人も加わって、ついに本日決行となりました。
SちゃんとJさんの二人だけが、今回は味噌作りの経験者。そしてお二人が段取りから材料の手配まで色々やってくれたおかげで、実現したこの企画。どのメンバーも子ども連れなので、いつものごとく何ともドタバタな味噌作り！ああ、でもおかげで何とかお昼直前に皆終わって、いつもの持ち寄りランチで一息入れることができました。
昨日まで比較的暖かかったのに、今日は打って変わって雪が降り出しました。とても楽しかったけれど、如何せん寒い「かんまん部屋」です。トップライトの隙間から、風に乗って粉雪が舞い降りてきたのを見たのは昨年のことでしたが、何と今年はよりによってこの日に見ることになるとは。家の中に雪、なんて現代の人には衝撃的でしょうが、それでも味噌作りの熱気で雪も溶かしてしまいました、なんて。何はともあれ、皆さまこの試みへのご参加どうもありがとう。数か月後に、味比べをするのが楽しみですね。
