Within 2 minutes from Kanman-beya, there is a work area of Imaichi Chirimen, selling boiled and dried young natural sardines. We like to go there and buy them.
Whenever we step into the work area, we enjoy the fresh smell of Chirimen, and usually they give us handful of Chirimen for tasting. On this day, we found that one of the staff was picking small squids out from a big Chirimen basket. They were trying to eat young sardines, but were caught and boiled together. It's quite a tough job to remove them manually, but they are really yummy! Luckily, we got a handful of those squids that day. When we were enjoying squids and chatting with the staff, Mr. Imaichi started talking to me. According to his experience, we shouldn't eat too many squids before checking up of the bowel because your stool sample would turn black due to squid ink! Of course, it would be proved that nothing was wrong with your bowel, but only after long process of complete examination....! Since he had done it before, he has been very careful about squid during health check up season, he said. Hearing this story, I laughed so much that I almost forgot to buy Chirimen that was the main purpose of the visit. Wakana 小さいイカの話 かんまん部屋から歩いて2分以内の所に、「今市ちりめん」さんの作業場があります。そこで、いつも干したちりめんや、釜揚げちりめんを買っています。 私たちは、散歩がてらここに買いにくるのが大好きです。中に入ると、いつもちりめんのいい匂いがたちこめているし、おばちゃんが両手いっぱいのちりめんを味見にと言ってくれるのです。この日は、スタッフの一人が、大きなちりめんのザルの中から、小さいイカをよっているところでした。このイカたちは、ちりめん魚を食べようとして、一緒に網につかまり、一緒に茹であげられてしまったものたち。手作業での取り除き作業はいかにも大変そうですが、これが何と言ってもおいしいのです。ラッキーなことに、この日は両手いっぱいのイカたちをもらいました。 イカを頬張りながら、おばちゃんたちとおしゃべりをしていると、ご主人の今市さんが話しかけてきました。彼の経験からすると、大腸検診の前にはこのイカを食べすぎるなとのこと。というのも、便を提出した時に、その便が真っ黒で検診に引っかかってしまうというのです。もちろん、大腸に異常があるわけでないことは調べてもらえるのですが、長い長い精密検査に行かねばならなくなるとのこと。彼は苦い経験以来、検診シーズンのイカには注意を払っているとのことでした。 この話でおばちゃんたちと笑って笑って、一番の目的であるちりめん購入を、うっかり忘れてしまうところでした。 （わ） |
