"Ponpi" is a word that Umeo created. She means "sanpo (walking)" and has been using it since she was 2 years old.
When we walk along farm roads with some snacks and water, we call it "mountain-ponpi", and we love it! If it's a sunny, sky, the greens, oranges and everything shine and it is really refreshing. Even if it's cloudy, we enjoy finding insects and funny shaped seeds as we walk.
This particular day had a beautiful clear sky in the morning. We were walking along the sea, when suddenly Umeo felt like jumping into the water...naturally Sukla followed. I warned them that the water must be cold, but they said "no problem". Well, what could I do then? They enjoyed in the water for a while, then admitted that they felt cold in the end! Luckily, the sunlight was really strong, which saved them from catching a cold. I expected that from this experience, they wouldn't go into the water in winter again, however...it didn't work that well! If it's sunny, they still try playing in the water. Ooops, seems like a hot bath needs to be ready all the time...!?

マウンテンぽんぴ
「ぽんぴ」というのは、（う）は2歳の頃に作った言葉で、「さんぽ」の意味で使っています。
農道を歩いて柑橘の山を登って行く散歩を、私たちはいつからか「マウンテンぽんぴ」と呼んでいます。この時は、時間にゆとりを持って、いつもちょっとしたおやつと水筒を持って行くので張り切って行きます。晴れの日ならば、空も緑も柑橘もあらゆるものが、きらきらしています。曇りの日でも、虫を探したり変な形の実を集めたりしながら歩きます。
この日は、何とも言えない快晴でした。海沿いを歩いていたら、（う）が突然、水に飛び込みたいと言い出しました。すると当然のように（す）もやりたがります。私は二人に「水が冷たいよ」と忠告しますが、「大丈夫」とのこと。はて、どうしたものでしょうか。結局、しばし水の中ではしゃいで、ついに寒いことを認めた二人でした。11月の海ですもの。とはいっても、日差しが強い日で、どうやら風邪をひかずに済みました。この経験から、冬の海はやめておこうということを学ぶかと期待していたのですが、そううまくも行きません。晴れの日には、やはり水に入って行こうと試み続ける二人。うーん、常に風呂を沸かしておかねばならないのでしょうか。
