お隣のUさんが、メダカを3匹わけてくれました。わけてくれたというか、飼いなさい、と言ってメダカの入ったバケツが、どーんと縁側に置かれていました。「井戸（地下）の水で大丈夫、あとは適当な水草を入れておけばエサもいらん」とのこと。もともとUさんも、近所から分けてもらったメダカが自分のところで増えすぎてしまったらしい。
さてどうしようか。近くのホームセンターで水草買ってこなきゃ。入れ物も用意しなくちゃ。
よく分からないので、どこかで見たことのある、安い水草を買いました。けれどちょうどよい水槽がありません。メダカの水槽を探しに、わざわざもう一軒見に行くのもちょっとアレ。
まあ、なんとかなる、ということでそのまま帰ってきて、ひとまず、かんまん部屋の改修のときに残っていた、使われないまま放っておかれていた古い釜に入れておくことにしました。これを、直接日光の当たらない、軒下の縁側に据えてみると、なんだかしっくりきているように思えてきて、しばらくこれで行こう、ということになります。（う）も（す）も物珍しいのに喜んで、ホースをつけっ放しにしていたので、そのまま横で水遊び。
以来、のぞき込むのが楽しみになっています。出かけ際に水草が蕾をつけているのを発見。すぐ花が咲きました。

Rice-fish
U-san, who lives just next door, gave us three baby rice-fish. Well, the thing was that one day he just said "have them!" with a smile and left a bucket with three rice-fish on our porch. According to him, we should fill the bucket with groundwater and didn't need to feed them, but should put some water-weed.
It was all of sudden, so we had to prepare many things including water-weed and a proper aquarium.
We really didn't have much knowledge about keeping fish, so we went to nearby home center and bought water-weed that we've seen many neighbors' houses. However, we couldn't find a good aquarium there.
"Well, we'll find something", thinking that, we went back home. For now, we found out one old Japanese pot that was used to cook rice. This is what Yuki found in this house during renovation. Putting the water-weed and groundwater in it, we kept the pot on our veranda-like porch. It matched very well indeed. Umeo and Sukla liked the new comers, and started playing with the water with the fish.
Since then, I enjoy looking into the pot. The other day, I found a bud, and it soon bloomed.
