2012,03,09, Friday A man with a hand made camping car There was a small room attached on the bed of his pickup truck. It was made by himself and more than enough for him to sleep in. He, Mr.K, came to know about Yuki through one of his seniors who is now teaching in Tokushima prefecture, Shikoku. The senior introduced Yuki, and at the same time, he heard about me from a professor who knows me since I was in the university. Mr. K is from the same university as Yuki, but we haven't seen him before. As we were informed, he appeared with his "hand made camping car" that he drove from Niigata prefecture, beside the Japan Sea. He is growing vegetables and rice. Since everything there is covered by snow now, he has been traveling to western Japan and Kyushu. He is not talkative at all, but seems to have a cool mind. He stayed with us two nights, and the more we talked, the more we got interested in his views and about where he lives. He is so mature that I was surprised when I got to know that he is of my age! What else is cool about him is that he is traveling with his own Soba noodle making set. With a huge cutting board and bowl, a long rolling pin, and a lot of buckwheat flour, he prepared soba noodles for almost 10 people today! (I invited some of our neighbors who would love his cooking :)) Everyone loved it. Two nights stay was really short, but he had to move on his journey before the snow melted in his place. According to his plan, he is going to organize a small presentation about his trip when he's back to Niigata in April. We saw him off, promising to send him a box of Amanatsu (citrus natsudaidai) for his presentation. Wakana 　 小屋を積んだ軽トラで 駐車場に停められた軽トラの荷台には、小屋が取り付けてあって、それは彼が眠るには十分な広さでした。 その彼、Ｋさんは、彼の先輩から（ゆ）のことを聞いて、訪ねて来てくれた人でした。その先輩は、今は徳島県で教鞭をとっています。そして、これまた奇遇にも、彼は彼の親しい教授から私のことも聞いていたようです。その教授は、私が大学の頃から仲よくしていた人でした。 Ｋさんは（ゆ）と同じ大学出身ですが、私たちは今回会うのは初めて。話に聞いていた通り、彼は自前の「トラックマンション」で新潟県を出発して旅をしている途中でした。彼は新潟で、野菜やお米を作っているのですが、畑が一面雪の下にある今の時期、自分の勉強のために西日本や九州を旅しているとのことでした。 彼はとても落ち着いている人でした。ここには２泊していってくれたのですが、おしゃべりすればするほど、彼の考えていることや新潟での生活をもっと知りたくなる人でした。余りに落ち着いているので、彼が私と同い年だと判明した時には、さすがに驚いた！ そしてなんと、自分のそば打ちセットと共に旅をしています。巨大な板、器、麺棒にそば粉で、この日も10人余りのためのそばを打ってくれました。（彼の手打ちそばを喜びそうな近所の友人を誘っていたら、こんな人数になってしまいました！）期待通り、皆おおはしゃぎ。 2泊はとても短かったのですが、新潟の雪が解ける前に、彼の旅路を急がなくてはなりません。彼は、4月には新潟に戻り、旅の報告会をするのだとか。それに合わせて甘夏をどっかり送るからねと約束して、小屋を積んだ軽トラを見送ったのでした。 （わ） 　 | かんまん部屋 | comments (0) | trackback (0) |
