I was invited to "Gender Equality Discussion Meeting in Nanyo district" organized by Ehime prefecture.
Various people from the younger generation, who are active at each area and are officers of the city government, were the main participants of the event. We were divided into small groups and had a discussion and presentation in each. The theme of my group was "gender equality on disaster management". For my study, I talked to an auntie in Niigata, who experienced 2004 Chuetsu earthquake. She has been volunteering for victims of Tohoku earthquake too. She is such a thoughtful lady, so it was, indeed, a good opportunity to review the theme.
The discussion itself on that day was quite short and hurried, but the people there were with quite anｄ interesting background. I wish I could have had the time to interact with them more freely. I guess, if more women were involved as organizers, they would have planned like that!?
Anyway, this was the first official event that I attended as a citizen of this place.

「男女共同参画地域ミーティング」というものが愛媛県の主催で行われ、参加者として声がかかったので行ってきました。
地域で活躍する（とされる）分かい世代の人と市の職員が主な参加者でした。小さなグループに分けられてのディスカッションと発表、という内容です。私のグループのテーマは「防災における男女共同参画」というもの。事前勉強のつもりで、新潟にいる叔母に話を聞いて出かけました。彼女は、2004年の中越地震の被災者でもあり、今回の東北地震に対してもボランティアとして関わり続けている人です。彼女の思慮深さと体験談に触れることができて、それだけでも今回のテーマを考えるいい機会になりました。
当日のディスカッションは、時間制限もあり駆け足だったのですが、他の参加者には様々な経歴の人たちがいてもっとおしゃべりができたらよかったなと思いました。企画者にもっと女性がいたら、そんな交流の時間ももっと組み込まれていたかしら？！なんて。
ともあれ、これが、私がここの市民として参加した、初めての公式会議でありました。
