夜になると、神社から太鼓の音が聴こえてきます。集落中に響き渡ります。
さまざまな練が披露され、神輿も出る、秋祭りの一番の見どころはこの年は10月23日。前夜祭というわけではないのですが、その前の日に、宵祭りという催しが神社でおこなわれています。
巫女の舞、神主の舞が披露され、夜7時から、催しはほんの一時間くらいで終了します。始まった頃には、「あれ、これくらいしか集まらないのかな？」と思うほどまばらだった人影も、いつの間にやら神社の階段も満席、立ち見も隣者と肩触れ合っての観覧です。
このくらいのスケールだと、全員が参加している感じがします。揺れる松明や暖色の提灯が不思議な結界を作り出す。誰彼となく掛け声が放たれ、次々とついてくる。
「太鼓の音を聞くと、気分が盛り上がってくるね」、明浜の秋祭りは初めての友人が、こんな言葉を漏らしました。誰にでも備わっている感性らしい。
秋祭りが始まった。

The eve of Akehama Festival
At night, you can hear the sound of drums from the shrine. It rings through the village.
There are various performances, and Mikoshis (portable shrines) are carried along the streets. A 'must-see' sight of the festival, was on the 23rd of October this year, and the event, Yoimatsuri, is held one night before at the shrine.
Dance by mediumistic and Shinto priests are performed for an hour, starting from 7pm. There were few people at the shrine first, but soon got very crowded.
In this scale, it is felt that not only the performer but also the audience, is a part of the event. The warm light of torches and lanterns create a sense of unity among the spectators. Some call out, and others follow the call. "The sound of drums excites me" said a friend of us who came to see this Akehama festival for the first time. Well, this seems a common feeling.
The autumn festival has started.
