 Just after seeing off a friend of us who came from Philadelphia, we met a couple of people who were from the same city, Philadelphia! It was such a coincidence, but we met 1-year-old-M-chan and her mother who had come home for a visit. They are based in Philadelphia, but come back once a year to see their family here. Umeo got along very well with M-chan, and they both liked biting cucumbers for their snack. I was also happy to get to know M-chan's mother, S-san, who is such a cheerful and friendly lady. M-chan's grandfather lives in our neighborhood and has a big hen house. One day, he took us there, and Umeo got really excited to be surrounded by almost 200 hens! Now they are back to the U.S., but Umeo suddenly says "M-chan, cucumber!" sometimes. S-san said that they will try to come here every summer, so here we have another happy-summer-event!  キュウリ友だち フィラデルフィアからの友人を見送ったのは、つい先日のこと。ですがその直後に、近所で別のフィラデルフィア在住者に出会いました。 なんという偶然でしょう。（う）と同級生になるMちゃんとそのお母さんはフィラデルフィア在住で、ちょうど年に一度の里帰り中とのこと。（う）はMちゃんと仲良しになり、二人してよくおやつにキュウリをぼりぼりかじっていました。私も、明るくって親しみやすいお母さんのSさんとお友達になれたことをとても喜んでいます。 Mちゃんのお祖父ちゃんは私たちのご近所さんで、近くに鶏小屋を持っています。ある日、私たちをその鶏小屋に連れて行ってくれました。２００羽ほどの鶏に囲まれてた（う）は大興奮。 アメリカに戻ってしまった二人ですが、今でも（う）は、突然「Mちゃん！キューカンバー！」と言ったりしています。Sさん曰く、毎年夏には里帰りするつもりとのこと。夏の楽しみがまた一つ増えました。 （わ） |
