   Friends are the real assets for us. They came all the way from Tokyo and Philadelphia, the U.S. I used to share a flat with M in Tokyo just before moving to Kolkata, and she brought a friend of her, K, from Philadelphia. It was our pleasure that K, who had never been to Japan before, decided to visit us, too. J reached here one day later than them. It was also amazing that he made a time to come here! We didn't do much special things but took a walk, cooked together, had takoyaki party with local people, and visited local pearl farm. We were lucky enough to see them putting cores inside each peral that looked like such a sensitive operation!    On the last night, we had an enjoyable dinner party with the Saito family,and laughed a lot without any special reasons. Yuki's boss, Mr. Saito, was so happy to meet them that he brought high quality Sake. He specially like J so much. We always feel special and proud of being here whenever we have such guests whom we can share our feelings and who appreciate the local atmosphere and environment. M, K, and J, thanks very much for coming here and see you soon! Wakana ようこそ明浜の日本へ このたびのお客人は、東京とアメリカのフィラデルフィアより、遠路はるばるやってきてくれました。 この中のMとは、コルカタに移り住むまで東京でルームシェアをしていました。彼女が連れてきてくれたのが、フィラデルフィアからのK。私たちの驚き混じりの喜びは、このKがこれまで日本を訪れたこともなかったのに、いきなり私たちを訪ねてきてくれたということ。JもMの友人。彼は一日遅れてやってきました。それでもなお、せっかくの機会だからと時間を作ってやってきてくれたことに、正直驚いてしまいます。 私たちはいつも通り、特別なことはしません。近くを散策し、一緒に料理を作り、地元の人を招いてたこ焼きパーティを開いたり、真珠の養殖場を訪問したりするだけ。そうそう、ちょうど母貝に核を入れているところでした。知らずと足を踏み入れましたが、これはラッキー。繊細な手さばきは外科手術のようです。 最後の日は、斉藤家の皆さんを招いてちょっとした酒宴となりました。笑いが絶えず、何とはなしに可笑しくてしょうがありませんでした。 （ゆ）の師匠の斉藤さんは、彼らに会うのを楽しみにしてくれていたようです。その証拠に、特別な酒を携えてやってきてくれました。特にJがお気に入りだったように見受けます。 私たちはこのような人々を迎えるたびに、何か誇らしく、特別な思いがよぎります。このような人々とは、この場所にある空気と時間を大事にしてくれる、私たちと心を分かち合える人たちのこと。 M、K、Jのお三方、来てくれてどうもありがとう。あなたたちのおかげで、友こそ宝だとあらためて実感することができます。また近く、お目にかかる日を楽しみに。 （わ） |
