We saw many, many "fireflies" in Unomachi which is a 20 minute drive from where we live.
Those "fireflies" were made of hundreds of Japanese lanterns made by local people, and spaced out in every corner of the town.
It was almost the end of the vacation, and the Okimura family went there to see the lighting festival, so we joined them in their car. There were some musicians performing in several parts of the town; some were smoochy, and others were bouncy. We walked around among the "fireflies" enjoying the music and cool evening air.

卯のほたる
その晩、私たちは卯之町で、それはそれはたくさんの「ほたる」を観ました。
卯之町は、うちから車で20分くらいの町です。「ほたる」たちは、地域の人たちが作った何百もの灯篭の灯りで、それらが古い町並みのそこここに置かれているのです。
もう夏休みも終わりに近づき、沖村家の皆が一家で観に行くというので、私たちも便乗して行くことにしました。アーティストの人たちが何か所かに分かれて、情緒あるものや軽快なものなど、音楽を奏でています。そんなのを聴きながら、また涼しくなった夜の風を感じながら、「ほたる」たちの間をゆっくりと歩いて回りました。
