 Since last summer was over, Umeo had been dreaming about the next summer to come. She often told me "if I'm not aware of arrival of summer, please let me know for sure!!". To her, summer is something that arrives suddenly. To her, meeting M-chan is a kind of sign of the arrival of summer. M-chan is a granddaughter of the wild boar hunter, H-san, who lives three doors next to us. His daughter, S-san, who is married to an American and is now settled in Philadelphia, has been staying with him for two months, along with her kids, M-chan and T-chan. M-chan and Umeo are of the same age, so they play together all the time; they are like summer friends. On the day that we planed to go to the nearby beach with lunch boxes, I told Umeo that summer has come! She screamed with joy and jumped around. Since then, playing with water here and there is our daily event. Congratulations, Umeo. Let's see how dark we will become this year. Wakana  夏が来た！ 去年の夏が終わって以来、（う）は次の夏を夢見てきました。彼女は口癖のように私に、「夏が来たら絶対教えてよ！もしあたしが気づかなかったら、来たよって教えてよ！」と言っていました。（う）にとって夏は、ある日突然やってくるもののよう。 そして、Mちゃんとの再会も（う）にとっては夏到来のサインです。Mちゃんは3軒隣の猪ハンターHさんの孫娘で、アメリカはフィラデルフィア在住です。娘のSさんがアメリカ人と結婚してあちらに住んでいるのですが、夏の間里帰りで帰ってくるのです。Mちゃんと（う）は同い年なので、しょっちゅう一緒に遊びます。彼女たちは夏友だち、といったところでしょうか。 一緒にお弁当を持って近くの浜辺に遊びに行く日、ついに私は（う）に「夏が来たよ！」と告げました。（う）は喜び叫び、そこら辺を飛び跳ねて回りました。その日以来、そこここでの水遊びが解禁となり、毎日びしょびしょ。よかったね。さて、今年もどれだけ焼けることやら。 （わ）
