春には、スケッチを贈るのが定番になってきました。今回は、狩江公民館で4年間主事を務めたNさん。4月から異動です。公民館活動の充実に献身する姿勢が印象的で、上勝町や伊座利への視察研修にも一緒に行きました。
彼の送別会が、この日の夕方から企画されていました。前日に連絡がきて、それでは、ということで農道にスケッチにあったわけです。
軽い気持ちでとりはじめたスケッチでしたが、思ったより大変。住民として暮らす時間や、農民としてみかん山で過ごしてきた時間が長くなり、いろんなものが見えてきてします。そうなると、描かずにおれない、といった感じ。それほど時間がかかるわけではないのですが、そわそわ落ち着かない。この風景と向き合うには、もう、スケッチの領域では難しいのかもしれません。
しんどいとはいえ、それでも続けなければな、とは思うのですが。

Farewell gift
My sketches have become regular gifts as good-bye presents, especially in Spring, the farewell season. This time, I gifted one to Mr. N who had worked for our local community hall as a secretary for 4 years. He worked so hard to enhance community activities, and we were in the same group of study tours having visited Kamikatsu-cho and Izari.
His farewell party was organized this afternoon. I was informed yesterday, so I spent some time sketching at the citrus field.
I started by taking a sketch casually, but it was not as easy as I expected. As I looked at the scenery, I couldn't stop seeing many other things behind it. That was because I'd been spending quite some time here as a resident and a farmer. When it reminded me of something related to the view, I couldn't just ignore it, but added it in my sketch. In order to face this kind of sceneary, sketching is maybe no longer the best way to do it.
It is tough, but I know that I should keep practising.
