K-san is in her 70s, and is one of our neighbors. One day, she came to our house to deliver some local announcement papers.
She is such a friendly woman and used to sit on our engawa-porch for a chat in summer. On this day too, we had a chat for a while at the door, and as she was leaving, I invited her saying "please come and have a tea with us anytime!" as always. Then, Umeo listened to it and believed that she would come back for tea soon.
Though Umeo waited and waited, K-san didn't appear. Then she asked me to give a call to K-san, and through the phone, 3-year-old Umeo invited K-san for a tea and snacks. K-san was so happy to get the invitation that she came immediately with a big bag of snacks.
It was a rainy day, so a bored Umeo was really happy, too. She showed her favorite bags, dolls and books to K-san and explained every single thing with joy.

雨降りのご招待
Kさんは70代で、ご近所さんの一人です。ある日、彼女は近所のお知らせプリント類を届けに我が家にやってきました。
とってもフレンドりーなKさんは、夏なんかはよく縁側に座って一緒におしゃべりなんかをしていくような女性です。この日も、玄関でちょっとおしゃべりをし、彼女の帰り際に「またいつでもお茶に寄って下さいね～」と声をかけました。それを、（う）が聞いていて、すぐにKさんがお茶をしに来てくれると思い込んだようです。
けれど待てども待てども、Kさんは来ません。しびれをきらした3歳の（う）は、私に電話番号を押させて、Kさんに電話をかけ、直接やや強引にお茶にご招待したのでした。一方Kさんは大喜びで、大きなお菓子の袋を持って、すぐにやってきてくれました。
この日は雨の日。外に出れずにウズウズしていた（う）は、大はしゃぎ。お気に入りのカバン、人形、本なんかを片っ端から見せて説明して、大張り切りです。
雨の日の新たな愉しみ方を見つけてしまった・・・ようです。
